The most important piece of equipment you can have with you on an investigation is a pen and paper, everything else is just gravy.
You need to document everything in an investigation; from the (a) first request; (b) to the interview; (c) to the walk-around; (d) to the actual investigation; (e) to the analysis of evidence gathered; and (f) to the final review. Documenting everything in an investigation can go a long way of promoting you group and letting people know you are a professional team.
